🗺 The 4 selection rounds

Knowing the road ahead removes 80% of the anxiety. Here's what each round actually looks like.

Round 1

Preliminary Screening & Height Check

Document verification, height + visual appearance check, a brief introduction. Akasa's prelim is friendlier than legacy carriers but no less eliminatory — show energy and warmth from the first hello.

💡 TipDress smart-casual-formal: clean tailored trousers or knee-length skirt, half-sleeve shirt or blouse, polished closed shoes, minimal makeup, neat hair. Bring originals + photocopies of every document plus two passport-size photos.
Round 2

Group Activity / JAM

Either a short Just A Minute (~60 seconds on a given topic) or a small group activity assessing teamwork, communication, and personality fit with the "It's Your Sky" ethos.

💡 TipAkasa wants warmth + clarity, not theatrical polish. Speak conversationally, smile genuinely, listen actively when others speak. Avoid scripted-sounding answers — they read as inauthentic here.
Round 3

Personal HR Interview

Behavioural and motivational questions ("Why Akasa?", "Tell me about yourself", customer-service scenarios) plus Akasa-specific brand questions about its philosophy and growth journey.

💡 TipUse STAR for behavioural answers. For "Why Akasa?", show that you understand the airline is young, growing, and culturally distinct — and that excites you. Avoid comparing it negatively to legacy carriers.
Round 4

Final Round (Senior Panel / Medical)

A senior panel interview followed by a medical evaluation (vision, hearing, dental, general fitness). Senior round looks for cultural fit, composure, and a service-led personality.

💡 TipFor the panel: project genuine warmth and energy. Akasa is consciously building a culture distinct from older carriers — they hire people who would FEEL right at home there.

🎤 Brand questions they always ask

These aren't trivia — they test whether you understand Akasa Air's culture and whether you're a genuine fit. Have answers ready, not scripted.

"What does 'It's Your Sky' mean to you?"

What they're testingBrand internalisation. They want to hear that you understand passengers as individuals, not seat numbers.
How to structure your answerTalk about putting the passenger's experience at the centre — making them feel the flight belongs to them, not the airline. Close with a personal example of when you made someone feel that way.

"Why Akasa over IndiGo, which is much bigger?"

What they're testingWhether you have a thought-out reason for choosing a younger carrier.
How to structure your answerAcknowledge IndiGo's scale, then pivot: at Akasa, you grow WITH the airline — culture, processes, and career path are still being shaped. Mention Akasa's rapid fleet expansion and international plans as proof of momentum.

"What do you know about Akasa's founding story?"

What they're testingWhether you researched the airline.
How to structure your answerFounded in 2022 by aviation veterans backed by the late Rakesh Jhunjhunwala. Launched commercial operations August 2022. Entire fleet is Boeing 737 MAX. Aggressive growth + announced international routes. Tie this to YOUR ambition.

"Akasa's uniforms are distinct. What does that signal about the brand?"

What they're testingAwareness of brand positioning — Akasa intentionally broke from traditional sari/skirt-suit cabin-crew uniforms.
How to structure your answerTalk about contemporary, comfort-first, gender-inclusive design. Akasa's uniform signals a modern, approachable brand — not the formal distance of legacy carriers. Connect this to the kind of crew member YOU want to be.

🗣 JAM topics to practice

Speak continuously for 60 seconds — no long pauses. Practice these exact topics. Structure: strong open → two points → clean close.

  • A flight experience that changed how I think about travel
  • My favourite holiday destination and why
  • "What does great hospitality feel like?"
  • An achievement I am proud of
  • The role of young airlines in India's aviation growth
  • "What does 'service from the heart' mean to you?"

🏆 The winning strategy

What separates shortlisted candidates from the rest isn't talent — it's preparation density.

  1. Akasa's culture is consciously YOUNGER than legacy carriers. Personality > polish. Warmth + energy will beat over-rehearsed answers every time.
  2. Research Akasa's growth story: founded 2022, all-737-MAX fleet, rapid expansion, announced international routes. Knowing dates + facts shows real interest.
  3. For the "Why Akasa?" question, never compare it negatively to IndiGo or Air India. Pivot positively — growing WITH a young airline is the story they want to hear.
  4. Akasa's uniform is gender-inclusive and contemporary by design. Reflect that modern sensibility in your own interview attire — polished but not stiff.
  5. For JAM topics, lean into stories about hospitality and human warmth, not aviation trivia. Akasa hires people who will make passengers FEEL something good.
  6. Confirm swimming requirements before applying. Even if not formally mandatory, basic swimming ability is sometimes assessed in the medical round.
